Pavilion Pirates Preschool is celebrating a special milestone this year, marking 25 years at its pavilion home in Hedge End.

The preschool moved from Allen Road to its current site a quarter-century ago and, since then, has welcomed more than 1,200 local children through its doors.

For generations of Hedge End families, Pavilion Pirates has been part of those important first steps: settling in, making friends, gaining independence, and getting ready for school. What makes this anniversary truly special is that former pupils are now returning — as parents bringing their own children to begin their journey.

“Reaching 25 years at the pavilion is a very special milestone for all of us,” said Linda Noble, the Preschool Manager. “Some of the very first children we cared for are now parents themselves, walking through our doors with their little ones — it really has come full circle.”

Over 25 years, the early years sector has changed greatly — with new guidance, regulations and approaches to learning. Throughout it all, Pavilion Pirates has adapted and grown, while keeping its deep, trusted connection with local families.

The experienced, dedicated team provides the familiar, supportive environment families know and love. Many staff have had their own children attend here too, creating a unique bond between the setting and the community.

Run entirely as a registered charity, Pavilion Pirates organises annual community fundraisers to keep care affordable and accessible. The team also runs Little Buccaneers, a baby and toddler group every Tuesday in term time, supporting families from the very earliest years.

“We’ve grown with this community,” the team added. “Twenty-five years, generations of families, and we’re still here — making memories, building confidence, and welcoming the next generation.”
